Dr. Madhu B. Vijayappa

  • Dr. Madhu B. Vijayappa is a board-certified neurologist and neurointerventional specialist with a distinguished background in stroke care, neurointerventional procedures, and academic research. He completed his medical education at Bangalore Medical College in India. Dr. Vijayappa then pursued further training in the United States, completing an internal medicine internship and a neurology residency-serving as Chief Resident-at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria/OSF. He further specialized with fellowships in Clinical Research in Neurosonology and Stroke at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and in Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology at the Texas Stroke Institute.

     

    Dr. Vijayappa currently practices stroke and neurointervention at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND, United Neurosciences in Bakersfield, CA, and Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. He has also held academic appointments, including Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, and has served as co-editor for the Interventional Neurology section of Medlink. Dr. Vijayappa is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association Stroke Council, and the Society for Vascular and Interventional Neurology.

     

    A prolific researcher and author, Dr. Vijayappa has contributed to book chapters and published numerous abstracts and peer-reviewed articles on topics such as neurosonology, cerebral aneurysms, stroke in patients with ventricular assist devices, and the impact of statins on intracerebral hemorrhage. He has presented his work at major national and international conferences and has served as an editorial reviewer for leading neurology publications. Dr. Vijayappa is dedicated to advancing the field of neurology through clinical excellence, research, and education, with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for patients with complex neurological disorders.
