Stroke expertise the moment your patient arrives
United Neuroscience was among the first groups to bring endovascular stroke therapy to Bakersfield and California's Central Valley. Our telestroke service extends that same fellowship-trained expertise to partner hospitals across California, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota — so a patient's treatment options are determined by their imaging, not by whether a stroke neurologist happens to be on site.
When your emergency department activates a stroke alert, a UNI stroke neurologist joins by real-time video to examine the patient, review imaging, determine thrombolytic eligibility, and guide the decision to transfer for thrombectomy or keep the patient close to home.
What the service includes
Real-Time Video Consultation
A fellowship-trained stroke neurologist at the bedside by video for NIHSS assessment, tPA eligibility determination, and treatment guidance — 24/7.
CT Perfusion & Extended Window
Expert perfusion and penumbra-based imaging interpretation to extend treatment eligibility beyond traditional time windows for patients with salvageable tissue.
24/7 Neuroimaging Review
Immediate expert interpretation of CT, CTA, MRI, and MRA available to every network hospital at any hour.
Thrombectomy Triage
Rapid identification of large vessel occlusions and coordination of transfer to neurointerventional care when mechanical clot retrieval is indicated.
Stroke Protocol Development
End-to-end program support — protocol creation, nursing education, quality metric tracking, and regulatory compliance.
Door-to-Needle Improvement
We partner with every health system we serve to improve door-to-needle times and track quality metrics continuously.
Bridging the gap in neurological access
In too many communities, geography determines whether a stroke patient receives the right treatment in time. United Neuroscience built its telestroke network to change that — bringing reliable neurological expertise to facilities without on-site neurology, keeping patients closer to home and closer to their families.
Recognizing stroke: act FAST
